LSE-Lightweight Structures Engineering GmbH was founded in 2008 as a “start up”-company coming from Chemnitz University of Technology and its Department of Lightweight Structures and Polymer Technology. Our entrepreneurial focus lies on the development and manufacturing of structurally integrated and multifunctional lightweight structures.
An analysis of marketable research results and an evaluation of the estimated profitability as well as the environmental conditions, led to the decision to found a GmbH, the German equivalent to a Ltd company.
During the launch phase we will develop the results from the pilot production into a regular series production and subsequently introduce them to the market.
The following fields are particularly important:
Tool and technology development.
In addition to the product and component development we also offer efficient technologies and the company’s concept for lightweight composite structures includes all plastic-based materials. Using the infrastructure that’s already available, technologies for large-scale production are our main objective.
We offer the full range from computation and simulation up to the manufactured component and focus on the implementation of scientific research results in multifunctional lightweight structures by means of sensory, actuatory and regenerative functional modules. Our activities are characterized by interdisciplinary forms of cooperation in the fields of lightweight construction, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, applied physics, polymer chemistry and textile technologies. These disciplines are all represented on the Smart Systems Campus Chemnitz, where all necessary research facilities are available in a well-structured location. In an evolution process from our previous business we have come up with the following new segments:
Structural integration (active and passive) in fiber composite systems
Manufacturing of components made of fiber-reinforced plastic and elastomer materials
Tool and mold manufacturing.
